We have always welcomed members of the LGBTQ community. In fact, one of the first children for whom we helped create a family was placed with a lesbian in West Virginia. Since that time, the Center has continued to work with members of the LGBTQ community interested in adopting children from the foster care system. We have been awarded the All Children All Families: ACAF Agency Seal of Recognition for our cultural competence.
The Center has implemented a public awareness/education campaign directed to the LGBTQ community. The free booklet, A Guide to LGBTQ Adoption, addressing some of the concerns of this community is available.
We also hold Adoption Cafes specifically for the LGBTQ community. Here you will meet and hear from other members of the LGBTQ community who have adopted, adoption agencies ready to work with you and learn the basics of adopting from foster care.
